"A story of a mystery… a mystery inside worlds within worlds… unfolding around a woman…a woman in love and in trouble."
That’s how David Lynch describes his long awaited return to the delicious brand of cinematic poetry for which he is famous.
Cool stuff baby.
Eat it up.
Laura Dern plays Nikki, a married actress playing the role of Sue in a "remake" of a movie, based on a Polish gypsy folktale, that was never completed because the leading actors were murdered for their off-screen adultery.
Nikki’s co-star Devon (Justin Theroux) remains unperturbed by warnings from Nikki’s possessive husband (Peter J. Lucas) to steer clear of any dalliance with Nikki, and the two lovers mix fiction and reality into a goopy stew of confusion.
The three-hour movie is at once inscrutable and deeply satisfying for its daring high wire act of narrative illusion and passionately charged emotions.
Not Rated. 180 mins.
