Cannes, France — Director Atom Egoyan ("The Sweet Hereafter") crafts an intricate character study based on Rupert Holmes novel.
Lanny Morris (Kevin Bacon) and Vince Collins (Colin Firth) are a former ‘50s comic duo — think Jerry Lewis and Dean Martin — whose past comes back to haunt them when journalist Karen O’Connor (Alison Lohman) interviews them about their sudden breakup at the height of their career after a girl is found dead in their hotel room.
Alison Lohman ("White Oleander") leads the brilliant ensemble cast through a scandalous murder mystery filled with more than a few surprises.
Egoyan employs a keen sense of mise en scene to capture an atmosphere of ’50s and ‘60s showbiz excess that percolates beneath the story of flawed people with inflated egos making tragic mistakes.
