End Of The Spear

End-of-the-spear-movie-poster A squeaky-clean family of missionaries lives out their fantasy of "saving" a violent tribe of Ecuadorian jungle natives in this virulently wrong-headed movie. Based on a true story, set in 1956, writer/director Jim Hanon caters to ideas of colonization as his idealized protagonist missionary Nate Saint (Chad Allen) flies a bright yellow plane around the Amazon searching for a small tribe of spear-chucking natives on the verge of extinction. Nate’s foolish desire to "make contact" with the tribe comes to a fateful fruition that must be countered by the efforts of his oh-so-white wife and young son.

Rated PG-13. 112 mins. (D) (One Star)
