Me And You And Everyone We Know

Me_and_you_and_everyone_we_know This wobbly low fidelity romantic comedy is filled with distinctly unlikable characters and an unsubstantiated use of child sexuality that further clouds the film's morally rudderless course. Miranda July fancies herself a conceptual artiste when she isn't romantically stalking strip mall shoe salesman John Hawkes, who's fresh on the rebound from a recently separated wife with whom he shares responsibility for their two mulatto boys. As the boys, aged roughly 7 and 14, engage in a warped type of cybersex with an unknown person, idiot Richard recovers from purposefully lighting his hand on fire with lighter fluid. Writer/director/actress Miranda July flops with this directorial debut.

Rated R. 95 mins. (D) (One Star)
